The storms in Oklahoma over the past couple of weeks have been a mighty sign of nature's power. It is incredible to me to see the devastation, two houses side by side, one completely leveled, the other untouched. In church the Sunday after the Moore tornado, our minister asked the congregation if we were here for answers to why big storms like this happen. After a period of silence, she said "When warm moist air and cold air collide, we have tornados, sometimes big ones. That is as complicated as we need to make it."
When you have big tornados/hurricanes in populated areas, death and devastation are going to occur. Like my minister alluded to, this is a fact of nature we have to deal with. Living in Oklahoma for more than 30 years, I think we do a good job watching for weather alerts and taking personal precautions. My questions for you are:
1. Have you taken precautions for your business?
2. In the event of a tornado warning while at work, do you have a plan for your employees
(i.e. - where to take proper shelter)?
3. Do you have a battery operated weather radio and flashlights in your place of business?
4. If your business was destroyed, like many in Moore, could you replace it with your current insurance?
5. Do you have business income and extra expense coverage, which pays your employees and your
fixed expenses while you rebuild?
6. Have you added new contents for your business to your current commercial insurance policy?
7. If you have rejected coverage to try to save money, can you really afford to do that?
If you answered NO to any of these questions, it's more vital than ever to work with a Trusted Choice® agent and let us asses, design and implement a risk reduction plan for the protection of your business, your employees and your family.
Storms happen. We can't control that. But what we can control is how we choose to protect what is most important to us. Don't wait to protect your livelihood to the best of your ability.
